Duncan Brown

Photo: Duncan Brown Charles Brightman Professor of PhysicsDuncan Brown is a theoretical astrophysicist who devises many of the algorithms used to detect and study gravitational waves. His work lies at the intersection of physics, astronomy, and computing, and includes the burgeoning field of gravitational-wave astronomy. Brown also collaborates with Eric Sedore, associate CIO at ITS, to marshal the computing hardware necessary for LIGO’s detection. Both have worked with Open Science Grid, a consortium that facilitates access to distributed high throughput computing.
